Say goodbye to the crosshair grille of yesteryear; the 2019 Ram model replaces it with a longer, slightly shorter design, along with updated headlights and a front spoiler that moves position as you drive to increase aerodynamics.
You won’t have to worry about have “RAM” emblazoned on your derriere because the Ram’s head logo has replaced the stamped brand name in the tailgate. Taillights are angled, giving a more modern appearance as you pass by other drivers, and dual-exhaust tips are slightly larger.
The 2019 model comes with a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, but the addition of the eTorque mild hybrid system is what has everyone talking. Don’t freak – you’re not going to become a granola eating tree hugger (though there’s nothing wrong with that). The eTorque system simply gives you faster stop-start capabilities and regenerative braking, which captures otherwise lost kinetic energy and stores it for later. You’ll also have more torque under foot, especially during shifting.
A newly designed instrument cluster makes it easier than ever to see performance stats at a quick glance. Spice up your drive with an optional 10-square-foot panoramic sunroof for an open-air feel, which, when paired with the best-in-class 45 inches of legroom in the rear, will make backseat passengers very happy.
A whopping 12-inch touchscreen display is available, but an 8-inch comes standard. The new Uconnect infotainment system is easy to use and will make you wonder how you ever drove without it. Overall, the inside of the 2019 Ram 1500 is much cleaner and more modern than the 2018 model.
The 2019 Ram 1500 has over 100 available safety options. However, engineers also took this redesign as an opportunity to improve on its safety ratings over its 2018 sibling. Most notably, the 1500’s new ladder frame sports octagonal rails to support the front bumper that are designed to bend away from the wheels in the event of an accident.
An available 360-degree camera makes it easier to back into a parking spot or hook up your trailer, and we love the Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Ram Trailer Detection. No more worrying when hauling a boat or trailer behind you – the 2019 Ram 1500 has your back.
